HEART TROUBLE

I cough up my heart and show it to you.
It's so fragile, flimsy, red & blue.
Membrane so thin and beginning to drip.
It changes shape in my loose grip.

Like a frail balloon filled with water.
Seems this could be fine filling fodder.
I'm so frightened without it in me.
Take one more look so we can, we can, we ……. can see.

I'll try to replace it through my mouth.
Attempt to swallow it, let it fall south.
But that thin membrane is cut on my teeth.
Blood flowing everywhere beneath.

Seems this could be fine filling fodder.
I'm so frightened without it in me.
Take one more look so we can, we can, we ……. can see.

Blood tastes like water when you're dying.
Especially if you're thirsty from crying.
Why is it that I'm still conscious?
Standing in this puddle of red dampness.
